To Be A Rotarian

To be a Rotarian is to dig pools from which you may never swim

To be a Rotarian is to write music to which you many never dance

To be a Rotarian is to plant a tree under which you may never sit

To be a Rotarian is to build a city or a community from which you many never benefit

This is what Rotary is all about...

If it's to be, it's up to me.

38th Annual Shrimp & Suds for 2020 is CANCELED

Message From our President: To the Sponsors, Vendors, and Loyal Fans of the Hanover Rotary Club Shrimp and Suds Feast,

We are in the midst of unprecedented and challenging times; unlike any we have been through before. As such, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of our beloved annual Shrimp and Suds Feast, scheduled for Thursday, May 14th, 2020. Though we are saddened by this situation, we wholeheartedly support the directive of our health officials, government leaders and Rotary International in working to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We are extremely grateful to all of those who have already purchased tickets or sponsorships and we will be working over the next few weeks to personally connect with you and process your refund. A special thanks goes out to those sponsors who have already directed this year’s sponsorship dollars to be used as a 501(c)(3), tax-deductible, charitable gift to the Hanover Rotary Club Foundation for distribution in 2020. Our local non-profit organizations will need our support in the coming months to strengthen our community.

In the spirit of looking to the future, we’d like to ask you to please mark your calendar for next year’s event which will be held on Thursday, May 13th, 2021; we eagerly await the opportunity to gather with you again! It is our sincere hope that our community will weather this storm and will be stronger on the other side.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Holly Austin

President The Hanover Rotary Club?

Thank you to our Corporate Sponsors (Click tab to the left to see the list) of our 2019 Shrimp & Suds Feast.

Rotary is an organization of people who have come together to enhance the lives of others through service. By helping in this positive fashion, Rotarians enhance their own lives as well.

Organized in 1905 by Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney, Rotary is the oldest of all recognized service clubs. The name "Rotary" was chosen because the original met on a rotation at each member’s place of business. In that manner, members learned more about fellow members and the respective vocations and talents.

Rotary is in more than 200 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 33,000 Rotary clubs. All of the world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.  Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.

The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.
